The Army Aviation Heritage Foundation web site states "As universal military service fades from the public experience, many members of the American public will never get to meet their soldiers and learn of our military’s legacy of service and contribution to our Country. Our military’s deeds will be recorded in history books but our veterans will not be heard. Our military aircraft will come to rest in museums, but they will never fly again. How then will our Country’s military legacy live on, except in the hearts and minds of its veterans? ..." And as our older veterans pass on, what then? The AAHF web site and many others seek to preserve the history of those who served, the sacrifices they made, and the airplanes they flew. As you look at these sites, realize that it through the efforts and sacrifices of these soldiers and their families that we continue to enjoy the freedom and prosperity that we do today, and that continuing effort is needed to ensure that freedom....
