Sussey Cadets Participate in Earth Week

Clean-up at Oswego County Airport

FULTON, NY – Civil Air Patrol Cadets with the F. R. Sussey Composite Squadron did their part for Earth Week at the Oswego County Airport on Saturday, April 18.

Cadets participated in a clean-up of the airport grounds and the surrounding areas, picking up litter and debris that could potentially harm aircraft. The unit’s efforts were a part of a campaign run by the Oswego County Environmental Management Council, encouraging the community to pitch in during Earth Week 2009, celebrated April 18 to 26 in Oswego County.

“Oswego County celebrates Earth Week every year. It is a time to acknowledge our appreciation for our earth and the environmental successes that sustain our healthy living,” said Richard Drosse, Earth Week coordinator.

C/SMSgt Austin Zappala, cadet public affairs NCO for the squadron, coordinated the efforts.

“It’s important that we take care of our part of the community,” said Cadet Sergeant Zappala. “Supporting Oswego County and local aviation is simply a part of what we already do.”
