Mallory Named Communications Officer

SYRACUSE -- Matthew J. Mallory of Syracuse has been appointed communications officer for the Civil Air Patrol's Central New York Group, announced Maj. Carl Anthony, group commander. The Group oversees five squadrons and is headquartered at the New York Air National Guard Base at Hancock Field.
Mallory, who holds the rank of second lieutenant, will be "responsible for maintaining communications equipment, and ensuring that squadrons and teams have the radio communications equipment they need to perform their missions," Anthony said. Mallory said one of his goals "is to make communications and technology fun for the cadets so they want to learn."
Last summer Mallory joined the Civil Air Patrol, which is the search-and-rescue, cadet mentoring and aerospace education auxiliary of the U.S. Air Force. He has been involved with Syracuse Cadet Squadron, serving as professional development and testing officer.
In civilian life he is the founder and president of the Syracuse-based business, mfactor, that specializes in Technology and Communications. Mallory in the past was a network administrator and technical analyst with The Bank of New York. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served as a communications specialist and weapons supervisor at Ft. Stewart, GA.
The Cayuga, NY native holds multiple degrees and certificates in various web, computer, network and technology applications from ITT Technical Institute, Syracuse University, Cayuga Community College, CompTIA, Microsoft and the U.S. Army.
A past president and current board member of Central New York PC Users Group, Mallory has been a technology guest on several radio shows and has written technology columns for newspapers and a magazine.
Mallory and his wife, Kristy, have two daughters, Cassandra and Breanna, and a son, Tylor, a cadet member of Syracuse Cadet Squadron.
